Early Years Foundation Stage

The EYFS Framework describes how early years practitioners should work with children and their families to support their development and learning it describes how your child should be kept safe and cared for and how all concerned can make sure that your child achieves the most that they can in their earliest years of life.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children. It stresses the importance of play as an ‘essential’ part of children’s development, to build confidence, think about problems and relate to others.

As well as being the core document for all professionals working in the foundation years, the EYFS framework gives parents the confidence that regardless of where they choose for their child’s early education, they can be assured that the same statutory commitments and principles will underpin their child’s learning and development experience.
